Chinese medicine is a complete system of healing. Traditionally it is classified into:

1. internal medicine (herbs) which is taught mainly in schools with apprenticeship

2. injury medicine  which is mainly taught in apprenticeship

3. acupuncture/moxibustion and acupressure which is taught mainly in schools with apprenticeship

Internal medicine includes theories on the classification of body functions, herbal pharmacology, diagnostics, classical formulae, and prescription.
