da xian xiong tang  大陷胸湯

Name of Formula: da xian xiong tang 《source: Shang Han Lun  》

Application:

Getting rid of heat (infection) and rid of water retention. Rid of constipation.

Being used in days of constipation, dry tongue and thirst, some hot flashes in the afternoon (around 3 to 5 p.m), fullness and pain from solar plexus to lower abdomen, short of breath and irritable, tight and deep pulse with strong resistance when pressed. It is being used today in acute peritonitis, acute intestinal obstruction.

Composition:

 da huang 10 g, (with skin removed),  mang xiao10 g,   gan sui 1 g.

 

Add 600 c.c. of water toda huang and simmer down to 200 c.c. Use the decoction and addmang xiao. Bring to a few rolling boil. Add  gan sui powder. Drink 100 c.c. while warm.

 

Warning: not to use if the patient is normally weak or being weak after a sickness.

 

大陷胸湯

 

方名:大陷胸湯 《方源:傷寒論  》

主治:

 

瀉熱逐水,破結通便。主結胸証。不大便五六日,舌上燥而渴,日晡(下午3~5時)小有潮熱,從心下至少腹硬滿而痛不可近,或短氣煩躁,脈沉而緊,按之有力者。現用於急性腹膜炎,急性腸梗阻等見有上述症狀者。
 

組成: 大黃10克(去皮)芒硝10克甘遂1克
 

加水600毫升,先煮大黃 ,煎至200毫升,去滓,納芒硝,煮一兩沸;納甘遂末,溫服100毫升。

注意:素體虛弱,或病後體弱者禁用。

【備注】方中甘遂苦寒峻下,攻逐水飲,大黃瀉熱通便;芒硝軟堅泄熱。三藥合用,力專效宏,誠為泄熱逐水,開結通便的峻劑。
