goitrogens 甲狀腺腫原 （in English and Chinese 中英文)
A large number of food contain anti-thyroid agents, collectively called goitrogens (a kind of enzyme). Goitrogens are substances that interfere with the uptake of iodine thus interfering the functioning of the thyroid. They also inhibit the transfer of iodine into mother's milk.
Goitrogens is term created from gluconsinolates and goiter.
Gglucosinolates, a group of compounds that occur widely in the genus Brassicae. Some of the breakdown products of glucosinolates, such as thiocyanates, nitriles, and oxazolidines, have been implicated for their inhibitory effects on the thyroid.
