Dear Harvey,

I have some kind of perfectionist mentality which make me difficult to start a project. It is why it takes a long time to reply an important email.

I look back into my 40 years written records in doing qigong therapy. I suspect that some illness are cause by some kind genetic mutation (bad changes).

From my records, I found that these mutated gene can be suppressed or turnoffed by doing drastic type of exercises like playing basket ball, soccer, mix martial arts training etc or doing certain type of qigong exercises. A clear scientific study of the Second Hospital of Shanghai on hypertension verified that. Guolin qigong also has shown the remarkable healing rates in cancer.

A martial arts student, before doing martial arts, he was an alcoholics, drug addict and had many bad habit. After doing martial arts (mix martial arts) he stopped all those bad things. Our mix martial arts training program was very drastic, aiming for mix martial arts tournament. A lot of students dropped out. But, my aim was to train top fighters and not about making a profit. So, the training is really demanding. This kind of training helped him to shut off the bad gene and get back on track. He will not do qigong because his minister of his church told him not to do it because it is not Christian. When this student had an hernia and could continue to do the drastic exercises, his problems started again. He became schizophrenia and alcoholic and drug addict again.

Doing drastic type of sport or exercises has its disadvantages because when a person is injured or sick he/she can not continue to do them. Then, doing certain type of qigong is a better choice.

In the San Francisco qigong class that I teach, we have a famous molecular biologist, Tiina Sepp.

Tiina has a PH.D from Germany where education in Science is considered the best in the world. PhD is nothing. She is much much better than everage PhD. I asked her to explain epigenetics to us. She brought her laptop and gave us a presentation using the big screen on the wall.

The concept of epigenetics was publish in 1700's but become a very hot biological researchers' item recently; almost every day there are new theories or discoveries, as told by Tiina, as I understand.

We can use good life style like eating the right food, doing the good exercises, doing the good qigong exercises, the right type of meditation, may be the right type of yoga to turnoff the bad genes that can cause cancer, high blood pressure, strokes, mentor disorder etc. I found using the right kind of qigong is most effective. (I used to study Hatta Yoga in Singapore, taught by an Indian Guru, organized by Fu Dan University Alumni Association)

About genetic mutation, a lot of time one of the genes that go haywire is MTHFR gene. MTHFR is short for mythylene tetrahydrofolate reductase (an enzyme). I have seen people with this gene mutation, the folate in the blood tests show high value but are bodies actually using the folate effectively?

Folate is high is green vegetables. A qigong student of mine has been tested with that mutated gene. When they traveled to Peru because the diet there lacks green vegetable, the 3 year old son started to stutter. Then they found green vegetable for him and the stutter subsided. Thus I was told.

People with that mutated gene can be benefited with eating more vegetable in their diet.

I think It is good to emphasize vegetarian diet. The vegetarian diet of the Buddhist monks in China includes sea cucumber (sea worms) and dried mussels which in Chinese it is called bland vegetables. It seems that not all necessary protein groups can be obtain only from plants.

You are on the right path.
