Ingredients are separated with hydrolysis process: platycodigenin (main saponin), small amount of polygalacic acidplatycogenic acid A, platycogenic acid BC, platycogenic acid C. From saponins the following are separated: prosapogenin, 3-O-β-glucose, platycodoside C, platycogenin-3-O-β-glucoside platycodigenin, glucose, xylose. etc , 根含多种皂貳，水解後分得 ：桔梗皂貳元（platycodigenin）,為主要的皂貳元，以及少量的新遠志酸（polygalacic acid）、桔梗酸A（platycogenic acid A）、桔梗酸B（platycogenic acid B）、桔梗酸C（platycogenic acid C）。此外，從皂貳中尚分得前皂貳元（prosapogenin）,為次級 ，是桔梗皂貳元-3-O-β-葡萄糖貳(platycogenin-3-O-β-glucoside) 。由總皂中分得桔梗皂貳C（platycodoside C）,水解生成桔梗皂貳元（platycodigenin）和葡萄糖、木糖、鼠李糖、阿拉伯糖（2:1:1:1）。以前報道的桔梗皂貳 （platycidin）經証明為一混合貳 。根另含α-菠菜甾醇、α-菠菜甾醇-β-D-葡萄糖 、樺皮醇（betulin）、桔梗聚果糖（platycodinin）。根中尚含14种氨基酸，總含量達1.22%。
