Week of the National Flora Flori (PF2N)  is a flower and plant exhibition. This event was held in regions of horticulture Engku Putri Batam Centre, Batam Riau Islands Province are expected to become Indonesian Horticultural Show Window followed 190 participants from various provinces in Indonesia and neighboring countries like Malaysia and  Thailand.

 

(PF2N) officially opened by Minister of Agriculture Suswono was held for eight days, from date 15-22 July 2010. The opening ceremony of (PF2N) in Batam was attended by Mrs. Mufidah Jusuf Kalla, Batam Mayor Ahmad Dahlan, Vice Mayor of Batam, Saptarika Ria, elements of Batam government and  number of other central officials.

From the report the chairman of (the Director General of Horticultural Crops), (PF2N) in Batam this time bigger and more participants than the previous event in Tomohon and Banten even neighboring Malaysia and Thailand also participated.
Agriculture minister said, this time held The National Flora Flori with International Batam Hortifest 2010 and Agriculture Day theme is "World Greener and Healthier Life With the World Horticulture or Build More Green and Healthier Life." It felt very appropriate theme to motivate increased cultivation, trafficking and consumption of horticultural product of Indonesia.

Suswono say, various kinds of wealth Indonesian horticultural products can be seen in (PF2N) and expected this occasion will continue to introduce sustainable horticultural products to consumers in Indonesia and abroad. Implementation (PF2N) in Batam by the Ministry of Agriculture is very appropriate to introduce horticultural products, because of Batam is a stopover town located in a strategic route, can be a Show Window Batam Indonesia into the world of International Horticulture Minister of Agriculture explained that the Indonesian horticultural products is starting to happen to increase production for all commodities.

Fruit production in 2009 has reached 18.3 million tons Similarly, vegetable production increased from 9.1 million tons to 10.3 million tons and production of medicinal (medicinal plant) also increased from 342.4 million tons to ton. Only 476.5 million for ornamental plants fluctuates, 173.2 million tons in 2005 and 166.7 million tons in 2006. in the year 2009 to increase production also increased with the amount of 262.3 million tones. Increased production of horticulture Indonesia, and awareness of the population to consume is higher in line with the rate of population growth and consumer demand abroad.

Agriculture Ministry delegation saw dozens of varieties of horticultural crops flouris. “ I am very impressed with the place of the existing cultivation of vegetable crops in Sei Temiang, Batam. With the poor soil conditions such as nutrients in Batam is, in fact cultivation can still be done and the results are also quite good," said Dr. Ahmad Dimyati to a number of reporter at the scene of horticultural garden.

"Frankly I was surprised at the price of corn cobs Rp.2.500,00 sold while still in the garden, if  in other cities such as West Java, such prices can already buy a kilo in the market," said Mieke to Ir.Tato Wahyu, Director of Housing Environment and Agribusiness that  accompanying entourage Batam Authority Ministry of Agriculture. What else to plant vegetables, organic fertilizer alone is not sufficient to obtain good plant growth to produce optimal. So after physical elements of land improved with the addition of organic fertilizer, the soil conditions plus chemical fertilizers to meet the needs of plants, especially plants - crop production such as fruits, flowers and seeds for the content of n in the organic fertilizer should be done earlier rather high.in the other hand test on the soil conditions used to obtain fertilizer recommendations in accordance with the location of the land here, which is commonly known as site-specific fertilization, and it is Riau AIAT one task with working areas including Riau Islands Province.
