The use of a gargle containing 2 drops of a 1:1 mix of the essential oils of manuka (Leptospermum scoparium) and kanuka (Kunzea ericoides) in water had a delayed onset of mucositis and reduced pain during treatment for head and neck cancers [3]

Traditionally the water extract of the leaves or manuka honey is being used in treating wounds. Today it also being use to treat MRSA infection.

The water extract of the leaves is being use as tea for reducing fever. The extract is also being used externally for massaging aching or stiff muscles.
