In addition, Sichuan, Gansu, Hunan, Liaoning, Jilin, Jiangsu provinces and other places are also producing. [1]

主治﹕

For treatment of rheumatism, strengthening bones and muscles. Being used in wind cold type of arthritis, palpitations, shortness of breath, swelling in the lower limbs
 

祛風濕，強筋骨。 用於 風寒濕痺，腰膝酸軟，心悸氣短，下肢浮
腫。

Samples of formulae:

處方舉例﹕

1、治風濕性關節炎，關節拘攣疼痛：北五加皮、穿山龍 Rhizome Dioscoreae nipponicae、白鮮皮各五錢。用白酒泡24小時。每天服10毫升。
2、治筋骨軟弱，腳痿行遲：北五加皮、木瓜、牛膝等分為末。每服一錢，每日三次。
3、治水腫，小便不利：北五加皮、陳皮、生姜皮、茯苓皮、大腹皮各三錢。水煎服。(①--③方出《陝甘寧青中草藥選》)

毒素與禁忌﹕

This herb is a cardiac stimulant and is liver toxic. Taking should not be excessive or for long time. Not to be taken in cases of blood heat or  liver yang ascending.

本品有強心作用並對肝臟有毒。服用不宜過量或久服。 血熱、 肝陽上亢者 忌用。
